Visiting the Britishers…

This trip was quite a surprise for us too…I mean we never knew we will be there…We were traveling back to US via London with a 15 hours layover. There was a lot of confusion with the visa stuff, so in actual we had decided to stay on the Heathrow airport and do TP. However, when we arrived on Heathrow, we thought – now that we have arrived and have nothing to do, why not try our luck for a transit visa. We got down at Heathrow Terminal 5 from the British Airways flight. So there we were proceeding to UK border security, filled a form “Landing form”…and voila! We got our passports stamped with a transit visa for one day….
Now see the odds…our mobiles were scarcely charged ( which we saved for photos), had a lot of friends in UK, but did nt have their numbers, hence no info as to where and how to go, Diya did not have a stroller…the list maybe endless…Par jab hamare Pandeyji (a.k.a.Mayur) aur unki biwi ofcourse, ne ek baar thaan li….toh namumkin kuch nahi…
After some enquiries on the airport, we proceeded for the Metro line. We had 2 options:
·         Heathrow express is fast but costly.
·         Underground is the cheaper option.
No guesses here because of course we took the cheaper option….We took the Piccadilly line. (12 pound per head ticket that can be used for a day). Diya travelled for free as she was below 5. We had to get down at Green Park station. Now the funnies thing happened here…..the train platform was crowded and underground and so we started moving with the crowd, hoping to get above the ground (that is exit the platform), however after a lot of walking we realized that the Britishers were running to catch another train, these people were busier than the New Yorkers, and when we tried to enquire about the exit, no one was able to guide us properly….! Do you know how we got out of that “bhul-bhulaiya”…As we were trying to find our way out, we felt a gust of wind coming from a duct, we followed the wind “Way Out” instructions and finally…we had exited the Green Park station.

Buckingham palace is walking distance from Green Park station (literally 7 minutes). It was evening time, almost 9 p.m. I guess, so we could see Buckingham palace from the outside with the gates closed. I really wanted to see those royal guards, but they are only during the day. Diya was quite excited to see a palace in real, and we had to tell her the stories about the queen and the princes..! We also visited the Victoria memorial opposite the palace.
Now that we were done with the palace,  we wanted to see more, infact all the things that London was famous for…
We waited for the local bus (the famous red double decker), but then it was too long a wait, so decided to take a cab. We covered a lot of touristy places within a 5 kms radius. First we saw “Ten Downing Street”, due to security restrictions stopping was not allowed, so had to take a photo from the cab. Then saw “Big Ben”, took pictures and then proceeded to “London Eye”, which is bang on “Thames River”. Took some pictures and then on the return to Green park, stopped at Big Ben and Westminster Abey.
The cab dropped us back to Green park (all in 20 pounds).
Took the Piccadilly line back to Terminal 3 for a flight to Chicago.
London kahani itti swatimayur purane sampanna..!

The Father of the Bride!

The other day…while surfing thru’ the channels…..came across Star Movies showcasing a lovely movie….. “Father of the bride”….!
We were lucky enough to catch the movie…though it was the last part…
I have seen this movie a couple of times...and every time I see it I watch it with same avid interest…as if watching for the first time..! What a lovely concept…the movie is all about – a father’s mind-set during his beautiful and lovely daughter’s wedding….!
That reminded me of my Dad…I was “his” girl…daddy’s girl…till I got married…or till Smarty came in my life…!
My Dad was so proud of me…or rather still is..! And I have seldom done good things that should make anybody proud…but then I was his daughter you see..! the one and only..! the apple of his eyes…he was/is soooo fond of me…and me in return too…!
On the day of my marriage…Mom (who was against our wedding for a while) was mourning since morning….:D…apologies Mom J…and I was the one consoling her(along with the others)…..to not to cry…and that I will there whenever she needed me (because her daughter is so dumb that no other country will take the risk of having her :P, she (I) am gonna be around throughout…!)…which did not stop her or her tears…from their job!
Dad was cool all the while and was proud to have a handsome son in law as a lawfully wedded husband for his beautiful and dauntless daughter…! He had no time to console poor mother as he was busy managing the arrangements…!
From the moment I knew that me and Smarty were getting married soon..I had made up mind not to cry…because its supposed to be a happy occasion…where I will be leading a happily ever after life with Smarty…and not vice-a-verse…where I will be a moving away from my parents..! I took the spirit in a positive way…! And I had lived up to it unless…that moment arrived…departure time guyz..!
Mom …her tears were all the more putting all their might to flaunt themselves…I was sad…a bit…..with moistened eyes…and making way thru’ the crowd of relatives with Smarty…..and then there he was waiting for us to wave Good bye…with a grim though trying to brighten up his face with a smile…I came close to him and gave him a warm hug…and that melted up all his heart……and he was in tears like a baby…asking me to take good care of myself…and appealing(literally) the same to Smarty…as if this was the last time I was gonna see him…as if all the the owner ship he had about me…was vanishing…..as if he had very little time to say…things to me…! And I could no longer live to what I had decided…I broke in tears too..!..Oh God…why did you have to make such customs??? Cant they be changed?? A father …my Dad surely must be having a heart of iron…or gold???…to let her dear daughter go with another guy ..!
Smarty was so moved by all this that he was on the verge of crying too and saying that …..Pappa…u can keep Swati for a few day…if you want..!! :D
But, then, we, father and daughter both being sensible people…made it a short affair…and Mom, Dad and Sandy…bid us goodbye..! with smiling faces…Mom was still crying though..! J

And my best friend dips…I was waiting that she would cry…because..now it wont be the same as it used to be before…but…that shameless female didn’t even have a drop to spare..! Stupid girl…and that now she knows……how it feels to be married…she must have known by now…how I felt that time..! :P

It takes guts people to be…The Father Of The Bride….!!

Smarty and Movies....

I love to watch cartoon or animated stuff...and Smarty hates it as much as I love it...!
And...Smarty looooovvvees to watch cricket as much as I hate it! I mean I cant bear to see every stupid match (which has no wieghtage, importance) that’s played by our stupid Indian cricketers throughout the year...!
And the worst part is that My Man does not understand that those cricketers get money for those matches...and u don't!
Once we had a heated discussion on this topic...and we do keep having such heated discussion now and then....and obviously I am never able to convince him at any cost..! Sorry I digress...but after one such heated discussion...My Man sent me an article written by Harsha Bhogle (who is a cricketer - theoretically) where he has explained - Why should one watch cricket…and its so much fun...and how it has touched so many people's lives (touched ???) and all that crap..!
But what My Man does not understand is, that "theoretical cricketer" is writing those articles to make a living....and not mere passion...because as long as the Indian cricket team plays...his theories float..!
But all in vain..! God please show him the right path, because thy not know what thy doing! sigh!!

Here she comes...

There seems to be a lot of confusion in my mind....well...confusion is not the right word but I am in state where I am not able to take a firm decision...and that is because  I am all skeptical about things...things which are crucial...in our life .....and to things which we have already paid enough....though it being not our fault..!
I had 2 missed abortions for the past 2 years…in a row….!
Both of us being completely illiterate in the medical fraternity had to listen and obey and to what the Doctor says…off course because it is for our betterment..!
We had followed our Doc’s instructions every time and still we had to face those abortions..!
At one hand we say that the medical science can cause miracles…then why not with us…!What did we do to anybody..!
I am not in a mood to go in the details of what happened each year that caused the abortions…but the truth is they happened in spite of taking precautions and care to what the Doc had told us..!
Anyway…after all this …we have dared to take a chance once more …and the lust for cute little baby (boy or a girl) is all that is making us do all this…and this time We will see that nothing goes wrong…!

Human nature and traits sometimes really makes you wonder….!
A kid is all that we are desiring to have now…..after a few years…when he grows in an adult…gets chipped off from its parents…the reason being his studies…then his job…and finally his marriage..! Some parents need their space then…and some suffer loneliness..!
So the question is…is all this pain taking worth it..!...Now I am again in a state of confusion…or whatever that is called..!

But then …after a bit of thinking…what I firmly feel is…..having a baby…and being a Mother…is a wish that I truly want to come true…is a role that I really want to pursue…and for that I am not gonna think of the future…and what will happen then…I am just gonna have it ……live in the present…forget the past…bring to life and try to make him/her the best human being on earth…who will have his own views…..and not get bamboozled by people’s opinion…and will has his own.. and lead a perfect life I have always dreamt of! J

God bless Us and the newcomer
